BUSINESS VISA

Business migration to Canada is made up of three different categories: investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed persons.
Investors
In addition to being able to demonstrate significant business experience, investors are required to have a net asset worth at least CAD$800,000. Investors will also be required to make an investment of CAD$400,000 paid to the Receiver General of Canada as part of the application process. These funds are subsequently allocated to participating provinces and territories in Canada to stimulate economic development and creation of employment.
Entrepreneurs
Interested entrepreneurs are required to demonstrate significant business experience for at least 2 years in the last 5 year period before lodging the application. Investors are also required to have a net asset worth at least CAD$300,000. In order to satisfy the visa requirements, entrepreneurs must demonstrate an intention (and ability) to set up and manage a qualifying business in Canada which creates at least one full time job for Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
Most Provinces of Canada have their own Provincial Nominees Programs (PNP) for entrepreneurs. Each province has its own requirements. A case accepted under PNP is processed on priority.

Self-employed persons
In order to apply under this category, self-employed persons must have relevant work experience within the 5 year period before lodging the visa application. In order to satisfy the visa requirements, applicants must demonstrate an intention (and ability) to set up business in Canada which creates employment for themselves and that will make a significant contribution to cultural activities or athletics in Canada; or purchase and manage a farm in Canada.
